My husband and I are expecting our first. It's all I've ever wanted. Well I've heard different things about washing baby clothes. One of them was not to wash their clothes in detergent. I've been told to wash them in baking soda. If anyone could tell me somemore about this, I'd be very greatful.
Jessica
Hi Jessica,
Some say that you shouldn't wash your baby's clothes with your own due to the fragarence in detergents. Dreft or All Baby (a brand by "All") is a great alternative, as are any dye-free and fragarence-free detergents.
However...when my children were newborns, I not only washed their clothing in these types of detergents, but also washed mine and my husband's as well. It seemed sort of contradicting to me that one would wash their baby's clothes in dye-free and fragarence-free detergents to avoid skin reactions yet would hold their baby near their own chests when the adults clothes were washed in regular detergents. The baby's skin would touch your own shirt and that sort of contradicts the whole thing, you know?
Hope the info helps! Congratulations to you and your husband!!

Hi Jessica, congratulations on your upcoming baby! We shop from a company that manufactures products with natural ingredients so they don't have all the chemicals and junk the regular store brands have. They end up being cheaper too! I can let you know more about it, just let me know.

What's most important is NO chemicals! i can show you how to Go Green and save $ doing it.
Our laundry detergent is scent free and has the same ph as water. That is what you need, among other things that make a BIG difference.

We use Dreft for babies thigns and our sheets since she sometimes lays with us in bed this has worked well for us. When she was born I used regualr detergentt (Gain) and she suffered a skin reaction andDreft has been used succesfully ever since.

For the first few months, I washed all of our clothes in the store-brand detergent that said "free and clean" or something like that. It was basically free of fragrance and harsh chemicals. Don't waste your money on Dreft. The cheaper versions are just as effective.
I think that anything like Tide Free or any other "free of dyes and chemicals" will be just fine. My boys were both fine on whatever detergent I used. Don't let them sucker you into buying a product that is twice as much and labelled "better for baby" or something like that.
dreft is way too expensive and not worth the money b/c of the soda ash in it which can cause skin rashes so it defests the whole purpose. I'ma lso a customer of a company that gives you better alternatives then what's oin the shelf like some of the others. Before I was a customer though and my first daughter was a baby we just used the arm and hammer for sensitive skin that's dye and scent free and it did pretty well. She ended up having ezcema but not sure if the detergent had anything to do with that. Congrats on the baby!
I was also told about washing my baby's clothes with a baby safe detergent as well....but they are about 8 bux a go...so i washed my son's clothes with the detergent i used....nothing bad happened and i saved some money. if money is no object to you then i say go ahead and buy the baby safe detergent. However, if u are like me and have to save then u should just wash them with ur detergent....unless your baby has a reaction...then you would have no choice.
I never heard of not washing clothing with detergent. Before Olivia arrive I made sure to wash remove all tags and wash in dreft detergent. I hear any clear detergent works with baby gear. Keep baby clothing separate from mom and dad stuff :)
Washing baby clothes is not favourable bcoz infection will cause bcoz of the detergent and the fragarence that you use. most people will thing by using this type fragarence the bacterias will go but as per doctor's advice we should not use any detergent are fragarence for baby's clothes. it will be better if we wash general....
