6. Cucumber And Lime Cordial
You will need:
- 1 cucumber (roughly chopped)
- 2 fresh limes (juiced)
- 100g unrefined coconut sugar
- 200ml water
How to prepare:
- Add sugar and 200ml of water in a saucepan, and bring to a simmer, over medium heat.
- Blend the cucumber in a food processor or blender to get a smooth puree.
- Strain it into a bowl through a fine strainer, pressing gently with a spoon/ladle to extract the juice.
- Add sugar syrup and strain the mixture again into an airtight jar. Add lime juice and refrigerate for two weeks.
- To serve, pour 30 to 40ml of the mix in a flute glass or cocktail glass, add a cup of ginger ale, and serve immediately.
7. Blackcurrant Cordial
You will need:
- 500g blackcurrants
- 200g coconut sugar
- 100ml homemade ginger ale
- 300ml water
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
How to prepare:
- Put coconut sugar and 300ml of water in a saucepan, and boil to make a thin syrup over medium heat.
- Turn the heat low and add the lemon zest, lemon juice, and blackcurrants into the syrup.
- Boil the mixture over medium heat for 15–20 minutes or until the blackcurrants soften. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool.
- Pour the mixture into a bowl through a fine strainer lined with a muslin cloth. Keep the mix in the fridge for up to a month.
- While serving, mix 100ml of ginger ale to 25ml of cordial.
This fruity cordial could also be served as a healthy festive drink, leaving your guests asking for the recipe.
8. Sweet And Tangy Raspberry Cordial
You will need:
- 500g fresh raspberries (chopped)
- 250ml date syrup
- 300ml water
- 1 cup homemade ginger ale
- 4 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime zest
How to prepare:
- Put raspberries, date syrup, water, and lime zest in a large saucepan and boil over medium heat.
- Boil the mixture while gently stirring until the raspberries turn soft and mushy and the mixture thickens. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool for ten minutes.
- Add lime juice, mix well, and strain it into a large bowl through a fine strainer lined with a muslin cloth.

- Put the saucepan over medium heat, boil the mixture for two minutes, and add mint extract if needed.

10. Mango Squash
You will need:
- 1 cup homemade, fresh mango juice
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
- 2 cups water
How to prepare:
- Add water and brown sugar in a saucepan and let the mixture boil over low heat.
- Once the mixture starts boiling, turn the heat to high and continuously stir until you attain a mixture with one-thread consistency.
- Switch off the flame, add lemon and mango juice, and mix everything well.
- Serve right away or chill the squash for an hour. Any leftovers can be stored in an airtight jar or bottle for a few days.
11. Shirley Temple
You will need:
- 1 cup of ginger ale (or lemon-lime soda)
- 1-2tbsp grenadine syrup
- 2tbsp fresh lime juice

1. Is zero-alcohol beer okay for children?
There is insufficient research to elaborate on the safety aspects of zero-alcohol beverages for children (3). In general, you may consider other alternative beverages for children. Brooke Pieke, a nutritionist from the Greater Chicago Area, says, “When reaching for an ‘alcohol-free’ beverage, it’s better to be on the safe side and order a beverage with traditionally no alcohol.
