Origin, Meaning, And History Of Fae
The stylish and classy name of Fae for girls has some interesting connections. It may be a variant of the name Fay, which is derived from the Middle English word faie, which means ‘fairy.’ The Middle English word itself comes from the Latin fata or fatum, which means ‘the Fates.’ It may also be an Old French name meaning ‘fairy’ or ‘elf.’
But this is not the only meaning of this exquisite name. Some etymologists believe that Fae may be derived from the Latin word fides, which means ‘trust,’ ‘confide,’ ‘rely on,’ ‘believe,’ ‘hope,’ ‘be confident,’ or ‘have faith.’
Yet other researchers have theorized that the name Fae could be a derivative of the Old Norse Fey. In Old Norse, fey is the name given to magical beings possessed with supernatural powers. They also have the capability to charm others easily.
Interestingly, Fay, the root name of Fae, is also used as an Irish and French surname. In French, Fay could have derived from the Norman last name de Fae, which could have several origins. The first origin is said to be habitational and comes from the Old French fage, which in turn, comes from the Latin fagus, meaning ‘place of beech trees.’ Another possible origin is that Fae or Fay comes from the Old French fae, meaning ‘otherworldly,’ ‘magical,’ or ‘enchanted.’ Meanwhile yet another theory states taht it could come from the Anglo-French fei, which means ‘faithfulness to a trust or promise,’ ‘loyalty to a person,’ ‘honesty,’ and ‘truthfulness.’ It is believed that the name traveled to England and Ireland in the 12th and 13th centuries.
On the other hand, the Irish surname Fay could be the anglicized version of the Gaelic surnames Ó Fiaich, which means ‘descendant of Flach’ and Ó Fathaigh, meaning ‘descendant of Fathadh.’ Flach means ‘raven’ or ‘hunt,’ while Fathadh means ‘base, ‘foundation,’ or ‘lawn.’
With so many rich meanings, it is no surprise that Fae is found in pop culture, too. In the fantasy TV series Carnival Row, a group of non-human beings is called fae folk.

Fae’s Zodiac Sign As Per Western Astrology
Western astrology includes the construction of a horoscope based on the person’s exact time of birth and location to understand the positions of the planet, stars, and zodiac signs at that time. However, in popular culture, it is often narrowed down to the sun sign, which depends on the person’s birth date. There are 12 zodiac signs, each having dominant traits, planetary rulers, elemental connection, and more.
Zodiac sign or Sun sign
The Earth’s orbit around the sun is divided into 12 zodiac signs covering 30-degree sectors. According to Western astrology, the zodiac or sun sign depends on the sun’s position in one of these sectors at the time of your birth. Starting from the sun’s position at the March equinox, the chart goes anti-clockwise from Aries, followed by Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. These signs are ruled by planetary bodies - Mars, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Sun, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Furthermore, they are categorized into triplicities or elemental signs - fire, water, air, and earth - that govern their characteristics. Each of these zodiac signs features certain personality traits that may determine how a person presents themselves.
Why the date of birth matters
Each zodiac sign in Western astrology is linked to a specific range of dates in the year. Unlike Vedic astrology, where names can sometimes be used to infer astrological details, Western astrology relies entirely on the birth date.
