Origin, Meaning, And History Of Rapunzel
The name Rapunzel immediately brings to mind a long-haired Disney princess. But the name has older roots. It originated from the 1812 German fairy tale about a long-haired princess held captive until a prince rescues her. The Brothers Grimm wrote the story. The story mentions that an evil witch gave the princess this name after stealing her from her parents. They had stolen the rapunzel plant from the witch’s garden. Coincidentally, Rapunzel is the name of an edible plant named rampion or lamb’s lettuce.
The French fairy tale Persinette inspired the Brothers Grimm story by Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de La Force.
Rapunzel was adapted into the Disney animation film Tangled. From then, it has become one of the more well-known Disney Princess names for girls. However, Rapunzel is less often used than other Disney Princess names such as Aurora or Ariel. It could be because it is too closely related to the fairy tale, somewhat similar to Cinderella.
Though not very popular in the US, the name is used fairly commonly in other countries. In Liechtenstein, Sweden, and Denmark, the name ranks almost consistently among the top 10,000 names for girls. Portugal, New Zealand, and Canada, too, use this name for baby girls though not as frequently as the aforementioned countries.
Rapunzel is rarely used outside of the fairy tale or its adaptations. There was a Barbie animation movie in 2002 named Barbie as Rapunzel. It is the adaptation of the fairy tale but in Barbie form. Rapunzel is also mentioned in the Ever After High series, where Holly O’Hair and Poppy O’Hair are Rapunzel’s twin daughters. One of them is to receive their mother’s fate. In Once Upon a Time, Rapunzel Tremain is one of the main characters. Moreover, Rapunzel from Tangled is a character in the Kingdom Hearts game series. She is one of the New Seven Hearts in the Kingdom of Corona.

Rapunzel’s Zodiac Sign As Per Western Astrology
Western astrology includes the construction of a horoscope based on the person’s exact time of birth and location to understand the positions of the planet, stars, and zodiac signs at that time. However, in popular culture, it is often narrowed down to the sun sign, which depends on the person’s birth date. There are 12 zodiac signs, each having dominant traits, planetary rulers, elemental connection, and more.
Zodiac sign or Sun sign
The Earth’s orbit around the sun is divided into 12 zodiac signs covering 30-degree sectors. According to Western astrology, the zodiac or sun sign depends on the sun’s position in one of these sectors at the time of your birth. Starting from the sun’s position at the March equinox, the chart goes anti-clockwise from Aries, followed by Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. These signs are ruled by planetary bodies - Mars, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Sun, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Furthermore, they are categorized into triplicities or elemental signs - fire, water, air, and earth - that govern their characteristics. Each of these zodiac signs features certain personality traits that may determine how a person presents themselves.
Why the date of birth matters
Each zodiac sign in Western astrology is linked to a specific range of dates in the year. Unlike Vedic astrology, where names can sometimes be used to infer astrological details, Western astrology relies entirely on the birth date.
