Origin, Meaning, And History Of Vito
Vito is a given name for boys that has its roots in Italian and Spanish culture. It originated from the Roman name Vitus, derived from the Latin word “vita,” meaning ‘life.’ This name gained popularity throughout Europe in the Middle Ages due to the veneration of a young saint named Vitus of Sicily, who lived in the late third or early fourth centuries. Vitus was martyred for his Christian faith.
According to tradition, Vitus was the son of a Roman senator and, after refusing to renounce his beliefs, fled to Lucania with his tutor and nanny. Later, Vitus was summoned to exorcize an evil spirit from the Roman Emperor’s son and succeeded. However, he was falsely accused of practicing sorcery and sentenced to death. Vitus was then submerged in a cauldron of molten tar. But, an angel supposedly rescued him and brought him to Lucania, where he was given a proper Christian burial in 303 A.D. His Feast Day is celebrated on June 15th.
Aside from the Italian and Spanish name Vito, there is also a Slavic name, “Vitomir,” that is commonly shortened to Vito. However, the etymology of this name is distinct from the former. It is worth noting that Vito is sometimes mistaken for the German name Wido, which has Ancient Germanic origins.
The name Vito is not only used as a given name but also as a surname in Italian culture. It is derived from the personal name Vito, which has Latin origins and means ‘lively’ or ‘energetic’ from the word “vita,” meaning ‘life.’ The surname “Vito” has multiple spelling variations, including Viti, Vilotti, Vido, Vit, Vio, Biti, Bitto, Vidi, Vitello, Vitiello, Vitulli, Vitti, Vittozzo, Vitelli, Vitangelo, Vitone, Vitoni, Bittolo, Vidossi, Bittini, Bitti, Bitelli, Vidolo, and Vito.
The common variations of the name Vito based on different languages and cultures include Wit, Witek (Polish), Vid (Croatian), Vid, Vida(Hungarian), Vít, Vítek (Czech), Vít (Slovak), Vitus (Ancient Roman), Vid (Slovene), and Veit (German).
Vito Corleone is the titular character in the famous novel The Godfather by Mario Puzo.

Vito’s Zodiac Sign As Per Western Astrology
Western astrology includes the construction of a horoscope based on the person’s exact time of birth and location to understand the positions of the planet, stars, and zodiac signs at that time. However, in popular culture, it is often narrowed down to the sun sign, which depends on the person’s birth date. There are 12 zodiac signs, each having dominant traits, planetary rulers, elemental connection, and more.
Zodiac sign or Sun sign
The Earth’s orbit around the sun is divided into 12 zodiac signs covering 30-degree sectors. According to Western astrology, the zodiac or sun sign depends on the sun’s position in one of these sectors at the time of your birth. Starting from the sun’s position at the March equinox, the chart goes anti-clockwise from Aries, followed by Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. These signs are ruled by planetary bodies - Mars, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Sun, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Furthermore, they are categorized into triplicities or elemental signs - fire, water, air, and earth - that govern their characteristics. Each of these zodiac signs features certain personality traits that may determine how a person presents themselves.
Why the date of birth matters
Each zodiac sign in Western astrology is linked to a specific range of dates in the year. Unlike Vedic astrology, where names can sometimes be used to infer astrological details, Western astrology relies entirely on the birth date.
